Thank you David for the invite to join this Blog. Today, we all had a wonderful visit to the Vancouver Buddhist Church to practice with a traditional Amida congregation of primarily Japanese descent. Their hosptiality was great and the vegetarian lunch extensive and satisfying. I was impressed by their friendliness and cheerfulness. It is nice to have made a conection with followers of the Nembtsu.

Here I am, in Brasil, after almost a month going around, attending a conference in which it was the first time the workd Mindfulness - conscious attention - was introduced in its history - an annual conference on trauma, sponsored by various organizations, including the ISTSS - International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies.
It was revealing and reassuring to see so many participants realizing that the practice of attention, acceptance, caring, etc transcend religious affiliations.
These are moments that I feel so fortunate for having found in my path Dharmavidya´s Amida. perhaps one day we can reach out and form an Amida Brasil... I will be very interested in joining it too.
Have a great summer,

the Vancouver International Film Festival is on, and there are a few gems for those of us, interested in the lives of masters such as Suzuki and Milarepa. Even though the practice of peaceful vows is what life is all about, by looking at these films, and the lives of these important models, we may get a notch further in improving, getting better, and helping others to make our world more peaceful.
