Abolish the Death Penalty
The first precept of Buddhism is to avoid the taking of life. In Europe the death penalty has been abolished, but in China, Iran and the USA executions are still common and in a number of other countries capital punishment is still in operation. Jim Pym, one of the patrons of Amida Trust, has connections with the Schweitzer Temple that is campaigning for the end of the death penalty in Japan.
