The picture shows Kenneth Tanaka, Dharmavidya and Jonathan Watts after a meeting at Jodo Shu Research Institute, Tokyo
Dr. Kenneth Tanaka, Professor at Musashino University, Tokyo, President of the International Association of Shin Buddhist Studies, author of The Dawn of Chinese Pure Land Buddhist Doctrine, The Faces of Buddhism in America, Engaged Pure Land Buddhism, and Ocean: An Introduction to Jodo-shinshu Buddhism in America has become a patron of Amida Trust.
Here is Ken Tanaka's message on acceptance:
I welcome being included in the growing family of Amida Trust, which, in my view, has successfuly begun to share the message of Pure Land Buddhism in a context not encumbered by traditional institutions, while not rejecting or criticizing them. I appreciate its openness to push the boundaries to ally with like-minded groups and to articulate the teachings in a more accessible manner for us ordinary beings of the 21st century.
Kenneth Tanaka is one of the most respected advocates of and authorities upon Pureland Buddhism in today's world. He is also a close friend of Professor Alfred Bloom who is also a patron of Amida Trust. We are immensely proud and pleased to have the support and participation of these two leading authorities.
This is such wonderful news and a great endorsement of your work and the inspiration and teaching you have given to others
