Constitution - "Provisions"

Outline of and link to Provisions for Structure, Continuity and Governance of the Amida-shu

In May 2005 the Amida community adopted Provisions for Structure and Continuity and on June 2006 this was extended into Provisions for Structure, Continuity and Governance. This is our constitution as a religious community and it is commonly referrd to simply as "Provisions". An important aspect of Provisions is that it allows for on-going revision through consultation processes to which all members of Amida-shu have access. In fact, any member of Amida-shu can initiate a process whereby any aspect of th life of our community could be changed. This enables us to stay abreast of developments and is a way of bringing together the empowerment of all that a written constitutin can bring with the organic style of growth of the Amida communion. When Provisions is updated this is recorded on this weblog - announcements are found in the "Acts" category of entries (see side panel).

The Provisions include:

Chapter One includes the basic principles and mission of the Amida-shu.

Chapter Two is on membership.

Chapters 3 and 4 describe the structure of the Amida Order

Chapters 5 to 7 describe the offices and procedures of the school and order.

Chapter 8 relates to succession to leadership of the Order.

Chapters 9 and 10 deals with complaints, disputes and some ethical matters.
