28 Sept - 1 Oct 2006: European Buddhist Union & Academic Board

Dharmavidya and Prasada took part in the EBU AGM. An Academic Board was set up for Buddhist Eduction in Europe with Dharmavidya as convenor. Further details of the EBU meeting can be found on Dharmavidya's weblog 28th, 29th and 30th September and 1st October

The Annual General Meetign of the European Buddhist Union took place 28th September to 1st October at Sakya Tashi Ling near Barcelona in Spain. Teachers Dharmavidya and Prasada attended on behalf of Amida Trust. This was one of the most constructive meetings in the recent history of EBU. The new constitution seems to be working well. Some items that came up for consideration were:
The Nature of European Buddhism
The Development of Interest Groups across Traditions
Twinning of Centres across Traditions and Nationalities
An Academic Board and the Furute Possibility of a Buddhist University.

The Amida representatives contributed to all these items. This will encourage us to pursue twinning with other groups. Dharmavidya was asked to convene the new Academic Board which we hope will make an important contribution to the development of Buddhist education across Europe.
