The author seeks to explains the conflict that we experience with others as being a consequence of our own personal attitudes towards the world and those within it.
The book examines sequentially the causes of anger, hatred and fear which are the toxins which find a home in our hearts and then seeks to show how these can be transformed through practices which will produce happiness and equanimity.
Her personal life story is used to exemplify the transformative process and there is a strong emphasis on practical exercises which are designed to promote self awareness and positive emotional states. Yoga, meditation and Buddhism have been strong influences on her life and this can be seen in her writing.
Just want to say that I love the book. It has left a big impact on how I see life and others. Highly recommended!

Read this book last month and got a lot out of it - it certainly changed my outlook on life, and my view of other people - especially those I come into contact with on a daily basis. Well worth reading
