27.11.2011 Fateful meeting divides Amida

On the 27th I had to break the chanting retreat for an afternoon in order to attend a fateful meeting. Two years ago Caroline and I ended our marriage. We continued to work together but there were differences of outlook that became increasingly handicapping to the forward movement of the Amida Trust organisation. In July Caroline left the Amida Order. Intense debate then openned up about what her position in the Amida Trust was if she was not part of the Amida Order. All this came to head at this meeting when there was a sudden and unexpected break through leading to a decision to split the organisation. Caroline is going to form a new organisation to be called the Tariki Trust. Amida Trust will continue centred upon the Amida Order. However half the assets of the old organisation will go to TT. AT will, consequently be moving house and will relocate to London. I will go with it. I'm quite looking forward to living in the capital again after an absence of many years. This break through has released a huge amount of pent up energy and it has been exciting seeing new developments suddenly flowing. AT now in a matter of days has acquired a new board of trustees and is busy redesigning its course programme, removing things from one house to another, and getting together willing volunteers to develop the new directions that are now possible.
