The Bodhi Retreat is the annual event of Amida Trust where ordinations and admissions and other important ceremonies occur. It is a wonderful event. Being present at these ceremonies is a reaffirmation for all the members of the sangha of the basic principles that guide our life and practice. This year has been no exception with people taking refuge and new admissions to Amida-shu. It is very affirming that the recent struggles over direction, philosophy and organisation seem in no way to have dented the enthusiasm of those gathered for this well attended event. One cannot, however, avoid the sense of sadness that this may well be the last time that this event is held at this building. We moved into The Buddhist House in Narborough in 2001, just as the attack on the Twin Towers was taking place. Now ten years later we are moving on. The sense of excitement and of loss mingle. Such a bitter-sweet time.
