Jack McCarthy sent me this message - thank you Jack. The poetry has been much appreciated.
Under the title "For AA" on your website is a piece that begins, "We died of pneumonia in furnished rooms." The piece is printed as prose, and it is described as "anonymous."
It isn't anonymous, and it isn't prose. It's a poem, and I wrote it in 1992.
You are welcome to publish it. I would prefer that you publish it in its poetic form, which can be found on my website, standupoet.net.
But I'm not going to insist on the format; the poem reads itself. What I do feel strongly about is the word "anonymous." This poem is going to outlive me, and it might be my only poem that does. I would like to pass it on to the next generation with my name attached. Not necessarily my full name; "Jack Mc" would do just as well.
If you need documentation, I'll be happy to provide it. You have my email.
In closing, I must thank you for publishing my poem. You honor it, and I appreciate that.
sincerely,
Jack McCarthy
